Alena
Designer / TV Host / Spokesperson
Alena Capra is the owner, and principal of the Fort Lauderdale based, award winning design firm, Alena Capra Designs. She has more than two decades of experience as an interior designer, as well as a Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer (CMKBD). Alena is a graduate of both the University of Miami, and the Metropolitan Institute of Design.
She has also won numerous industry awards over the span of her career. Alena was chosen as one of six “Praiseworthy Picks” for Kitchen & Bath Business Magazine’s Person of the Year, and named to Kitchen & Bath Design News “Top 50 Innovators” list, both in 2019. Other notable design awards include the 2015 Cosentino “Bath of the Year,” and Second Place in the Small Bath category, of the 2015 NKBA Design Competition. Alena was named one of four finalists, for the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s “Professional of the Year” Award in 2016.
A lover of all things tile and stone, Alena has served as the Industry Ambassador/ Spokesperson for Coverings, the largest global tile & stone exhibition in North America, for the past nine years. She is also a Brand Amassador for Robern. Alena enjoys public speaking, and is often a guest speaker at interior design events, and home shows. Her design work has been published in many national, and regional media outlets.
As an on-camera personality, Alena enjoys sharing her design expertise on television, as the host of SoFlo Home Project, a weekly home design show that airs on the Miami ABC affiliate, Local 10. Prior to that, she both designed behind the scenes, as well as on-camera, for numerous design makeover television shows, including Designing Spaces (Lifetime), Operation Build (History Channel), Rowhouse Showdown (FYI), and Weekends With Luis (HGTV). In addition to television, Alena often appears on camera for many design industry related educational videos, as both a host, or spokesperson.
Giving back to the community through design, is something Alena is very passionate about. Over the years, she has worked with many charities to design spaces, including Kid Sanctuary Campus, Ronald McDonald House, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Salvation Army. She is also proud Alumni of both the University of Miami Sunsations Dance Team, and the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, and enjoys participating in alumni events with both organizations.
